Faculty Reminders

Renewals & Recalls

Faculty may borrow up to 60 items at a time using their Gordon State College faculty ID. All regular circulating books are due at the end of spring semester. There are a few options for renewing books.

1. Faculty members can bring the book into the library with their Gordon State ID and the library staff can check the book out again in the circulation system.

2. Books can be renewed online either on or off campus. (Library staff will be happy to show how this is done).

3. The book self-checkout machine.

Faculty may check a book out for the entire academic year, however after they have had it for one year and they renew it for the next year, the book may be recalled if someone else needs it.

Reserve Materials

Any materials may be placed on reserve in accordance with fair use and copyright guidelines.

Faculty may use the Course Reserves Request Form to place items on reserve. Click here for more tips for placing items on reserve.

Faculty wanting to place items on reserve are encouraged to provide those materials to the library staff no later than two weeks after the start of each semester. Please allow up to 72 hours for each item to be processed and placed on reserve before they are made available to students.

Note that materials on reserve are returned to the circulating collection or to the appropriate faculty member at the end of each semester. Please notify the Circulation Librarian if you wish materials to remain on reserve or have questions.

Library Instruction & Personal Librarian Program

Requests may be made online to Beth Pye or Dr. Sonya Gaither via email or phone.
Requests should be made at least 48 hours in advance; please allow up to 72 hours for scheduling and confirmation. If confirmation has not been received, please contact either Beth Pye or Dr. Gaither.

All members of the library faculty participate in various forms of subject-specific instruction via our Personal Librarian Program. You will be able to request a consultation appointment with your personal librarian; (s)he will help with your research needs.

After instruction has been conducted, faculty will be asked to provide feedback regarding the instruction received.

GIL-Find Favorites & Training Dates

Anyone who has saved any searches or title results as Favorites in their current library account will lose that information when we switch to Alma. They will need to print that information then re-create and save Favorites in their new library account using the new catalog, when it becomes available.

Faculty will be able to save and print their Favorites items from their current account until May 25, 2017. When Alma goes live on May 26, 2017, you will be able to (re)create and save Favorites in your new library account.

*More information on how to save and/or re-create Favorites will be forthcoming.

Our new system, GILFind@Gordon State, will GO LIVE on May 26, 2017!
